Workshop on Chip Design for Readout Electronics

On 18 May 2026, NexGenRE hosted a hybrid workshop on “Chip Design for Readout Electronics” at the University of Bonn. The workshop brought together 15 professors, researchers, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, in person and online, from the University of Bonn, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), the University of Siegen, Forschungszentrum Jülich and FH Dortmund. The participants exchanged design methodologies, technical challenges and solutions for the next generation of integrated readout electronics for detector systems. The NexGenRE project and its approach to compact, low-power readout electronics, combining an advanced analog-to-digital converter with an optimised analog front-end, were also presented, sparking discussions on potential applications and synergies between the participating groups. The discussions highlighted common design challenges across the groups and led to agreed follow-up exchanges on low-power integrated readout designs. We thank all participants for their contributions and look forward to continuing the collaboration.
